Blistering Acceleration By Sovis Literally Blows Tire Up

On a long, winding climbing behind the historic State Hospital this evening, TOLaw Cycling climber Cody Sovis amazed teammates and on-lookers alike with an astonishing feat of power. On the famed Fire Tower Climb, Sovis rounded a corner and stood, putting in a devastating acceleration that shot him up near the summit. His surge was so powerful, in fact, that the brand new Specialized S-Works tire he’d just installed on his mountain bike simply gave up. The tire flew from the rim of the bike, flapping like the dangling stomach of a middle-aged, ale-drinking gentleman riding along a bumpy trail. Riley O’Neil, a fellow TOLaw rider and witness to the occurrence firsthand, said that the famed acceleration of the elder Sovis was enough to pull the rubber right off the rim. “That sucker just peeled off like a sloppy banana peel,” said O’Neil, shaking his head.

Cody Sovis will have to scale back the power this Sunday at Big M XC Race in Manistee, Michigan. The TOLaw squad will make its full-team debut, entering five riders in one of Michigan’s most popular and competitive mountain biking events.
